all projects Lake Grace: Michelle Slarke

Michelle Slarke was born in Lake Grace and raised on a wheat and sheep farm at nearby Beenong. Following a short career as a teacher, she graduated with a Fine Arts degree from Curtin University of Technology in 1992 and has since practised as a visual artist. After working as an arts oficer, Slarke returned to live and work in Lake Grace in 1999. She works in an interdisciplinary way, including installation, mixed media and permanent works commissioned for public places. Slarke has exhibited nationally and internationally and much of her work is informed by the social and historic content of place and the utilisation of text. She is the author of Far Site - Women of the Salt Lake Country and co-editor of Lake Grace 100 Years - A Community Memoir.
