all projects Narrogin: Jakub Szczesny & Kaja Pawelek

Narrogin is a rural community in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, 192 km (2.4 hrs) south east of Perth. It is primarily an agricultural centre with a population of 4,250 people including a large population of the original Nyoongar Aboriginal people. There is a considerable section of the community that is embracing and participating in green 'alternative' technologies and biodynamic and organic farming. There is also a growing Asian and African migrant population.

The Narrogin Creek is of great significance for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous residents and the history of the town. The creek was a gathering place for the local Aboriginal people prior to European settlement and the town was founded by the white settlers because of the presence of this water source. It is now the site of an agricultural and environmental campaign to remove a dam up-stream which is limiting the water flow and is also the focus of a local Aboriginal cultural program.
